Kidsview is a unique playground, designed with input from hundreds of local children. Phase 1 of the playground was built by thousands of local volunteers, off H.G. Mosley and FM 1845.

Phase 2 will be built in the same way - with the help, support and sponsorship of the community and an army of volunteers.

A Brief Phase 1 Story:
Many worked behind the scenes getting things ready for the construction phase while others worked at raising the necessary funds and in-kind contributions of materials. Finally it took the willing effort of thousands over five days, November 1-5, 2000 to put all the pieces together.

Amy Hill, chairwoman of the Kidsview food committee coordinated the "feeding of the thousands" with the help of Longview area groups, businesses and restaurants.

Among the Longview restaurants providing meals were Shipley's Donuts, Dudley's Cajun Cafe, Johnny Cace's Seafood and Steakhouse, Pizza Hut, Mazzio's, Bodacious BBQ, Burger King, Sonic Drive-In, Chic-Fil-A, and Cloud Pleasing Sandwiches. Some meals were fixed by expert cooks from area churches like First Baptist and Mobberly Baptist Church.

Beverages during the five-day projects were provided by Made-Rite and Coca-Cola. Blue Bell Ice Cream provided desert.

There was a place for any willing person who wished to become a part of the community-wide project of building this family-centered playground, Kidsview.
